Insurance Coverage

While therapy to treat spider veins is considered cosmetic, therapy to treat varicose veins often is covered by insurance.  This is because patients with varicose veins generally experience medical symptoms, such as swelling and pain.

Virtually Pain Free

The sclerotherapy treatments, all performed by Dr. Geller, consist of a series of small injections of non-saline clear solution.  The painless injections cause veins to break down and absorb into the body.  Patients experience little to no pain and no restriction on their activities.  Dr. Geller uses laser treatments in combination with sclerotherapy, or alone for removing some small facial spider veins.

Each treatment requires no bandaging and no recovery.  Spider and varicose veins begin to fade within a few days to two weeks.

State-of-the-art Equipment

Dr. Geller utilizes the most advanced equipment to ensure quality care.  He performs vascular studies, using bi-directional ultrasound techniques, on the legs to non-invasively determine the cause of varicose veins and accompanying pain.  Arterial problems are evaluated so that Dr. Geller can recommend the best treatment for the patient.  All patients receive special Doppler and circulatory studies.

Frequently Asked Questions                                                  Back to Top

Q: How does the EVLT work?

A: The laser energy damages the walls, shrinking them and closing them and closing the faulty vein so that the blood cannot flow through it.  This eliminates vein bulging at its source.

Q: Is loss of this vein a problem?

A: No.  After treatment, the blood in the faulty veins will be diverted to the many normal veins in the leg.

Q: What are the complications of the procedure?

A: The only minimal complications experienced with EVLT have been a small number of cases of numbness that passes quickly.

Q: How successful is EVLT?

A: 97% of first-time EVLT treatments are successful!.
